Today Social accountability constitutes one of the central issues for the promotion of democratic and equitable social development. In partnership with the World Bank’s Civil Society Fund, the Municipality of Dar Bouazza has been chosen for the implementation and the development of the concept and application of social accountability.
The goal of the SCORE project, implemented by CARE Maroc, is to capacity build local stakeholders, in particular youth and women, to become autonomous and responsible citizens, able to put into place a community level social accountability mechanism which will allow them to make accountable state stakeholders on specific key questions, in particular basic service delivery.
The Media are key players and one of the pillars for social accountability. Involving the media in monitoring this type of initiative play an important role in the promotion of democratic promotion by giving voice to the citizens themselves. They contribute to the circulation of information and the improvement of transparency.
