Our key global messages:
Freeze New Fossil Fuel Development + Make 1.5 degrees possible
In order to meet the targets in the Paris Agreement and save the planet from climate devastation, immediately halt new coal, oil and gas development and finance a just transition towards a 100% renewable energy future for all.
Read more on the
petition link here. During the COP, we’ll be delivering a letter with partners to officials inside the talks, to create a pressure moment that shows the gap between words and action by states.
We will be pushing to keep the 1.5 degrees C target alive and in the spotlight: it’s not too late – and we can achieve it without geoengineering. We will be tracking and responding across other areas, such as loss & damage, fossil fuel subsidies as the negotiations evolve.

Events & Activities
Side event: Spotlight on Environmental Defenders
350.org, Amnesty International & Track0 are hosting a panel on November 12th, Time TBC, at the Indigenous Peoples Pavilion
According to Global Witness, more than three defenders a week were killed in 2015 and hundreds face intimidation, arrest and death threats. These defenders fight to keep fossil fuels in the ground — the only way to limit warming to 1.5° — and they need the legal recognition, security and protection of the state. There is also a need for clear safeguards in the climate financing mechanisms for environment defenders as they go about their work defending the planet and livelihoods of the marginalised and those people living in poverty. The time for business as usual is over. These struggles of individuals are our collective struggle.
The panel includes environment defenders from Brazil, Africa, Morocco, and a representative from the Republic of the Marshall Islands.
Side event: Keep It In the Ground: The Global Civil Society & Political Movement to End Fossil Fuel Extraction
14 Nov: 11am-12:30 pm, Green Zone
16 Nov: 11:30am-1 pm. Blue Zone
Fossil fuel reliance must end soon to achieve the Paris Agreement targets. This panel explores global case studies of the growing civil society movement and political lobbying and legislative efforts to end fossil fuel extraction, aiding global mitigation efforts toward a zero-carbon future.

A spotlight on Africa & the Arab World
The Sunshines of Africa art project November 7 – 18th
The Sunshines of Africa (SOA) is a public installation artwork that includes performing arts to bring to life stories of hope for Africa, with a focus on how the region can be a home to the renewable energy revolution, while confronting the impacts of climate change.
The installation will include objects, pictures and stories from around Africa and the world. Please bring items, photos and stories from your region to add to the installation. They should reflect how climate change is impacting your local area, and/or demonstrate the solutions that are being worked on by people that inspire hope.
