As part of the 27th session of the universal periodic review working group, on May 2nd, 2017, in Geneva, “Adala’s Dynamic” composed by 137 associations and 9 national and regional networks, submitted a parallel report about the Moroccan human rights situation.
During the examination of the Government’s report, through a delegation of 14 members representing 8 organizations, “Adala’s Dynamic” conducted a follow-up work by examining the different UN, institutional and parallel’s reports, and attended the discussions of the Moroccan report on May 2nd , 2017 from 2pm30 to 6pm at Palais des nations in Geneva.
By the end of the review, “Adala’s Dynamic” adopted the following press release:
“Adala’s Dynamic” welcomes the resumption of several recommendations made by many delegations as they are mentioned in its parallel report, as well as:
- The independence of the justice system
- The guarantee of a fair trial;
- The protection of prisoners rights and torture’s prevention;
- The promotion and protection of the human rights of women;
- The protection of freedoms and individual rights ;
- The implementation of the official character of the Amazigh language and its protection as well as the promotion of Amazigh and Hassani culture;
- The guarantee and promotion of the economic, social and environmental rights;
- The ratification of the optional protocols of international convent of civil and political rights and the international convention of the economic, social and environmental rights
- The ratification of the Rome statue ;
- The promotion and protection of the rights of children;
- The protection of the rights of migrants
- The protection of the fundamental rights of individuals with disabilities;
Moreover, “Adala’s Dynamic” regrets the general vague and unclear character of the recommendations made by many countries as a diplomatic courtesy and expresses its disappointment with the position of many delegations about the territorial integrity of our country.
About the reaction of the head of the Moroccan delegation in his capacity as a “State minister in charge of human rights” during this review, “Adala’s Dynamics” is surprised and even shocked by his negative comments to the recommendations on fundamental and individual freedoms. In fact, “Adala’s Dynamic” reports that his remarks reflect only his personal and religious beliefs beside his political party’s ideology, wich are not in harmony with the Moroccan constitution, and the choice of the Kingdom of Morocco and its commitment to respect the international standards of human rights.
“Adala’s Dynamic” considers that it is essential to fully review the approach and content of the Moroccan head delegation’s speech and reiterated the importance and the urgency of the implementation of rights and constitutional freedoms, conventional commitments and the recommendations of the UN human rights system.
“Adala’s Dynamics” claims the establishment of a Standing Committee wich will include departmental sectors, national institutions and civil society organizations working for the rights and democracy for the adoption of recommendations, legislative, executive, judicial and procedural measures necessary for the implementation of those recommendations, as well as the monitoring and a permanent evaluation for its execution.
