On Tuesday May 2, both Morocco and Tunisia will undergo their 3rd cycle of review under the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) of the Human Rights Council at the United Nations in Geneva. The UPR is a State-driven process that provides the opportunity for each State to declare what actions they have taken to improve the human rights situations in their countries and to fulfill their human rights obligations.
Documentation and information for the upcoming review has just been made available on-line in multiple languages on the OHCHR’s website, including:
- The official State report
- Summary of information compiled by other United Nations mechanisms
- Summary of Stakeholders’ information – this is the summary of the reports submitted by NGOs (including MRA)
These are great sources for detailed information on diverse human rights issues in Morocco and Tunisia.
