We, women from the North Africa and Middle East, united in August the 25th and 26th 2017 in Tunis for our first regional meeting of the World March of Women against violence, poverty and any kind of domination, discrimination, imperialism, and for equality, freedom, solidarity, justice and a durable peace. We would like to announce the birth of a new space of action for women fighting for equality, freedom and a durable peace in the region.
This space of common fight and experience exchange that has began today in Tunis thanks to the strength of the feminist movement of Palestine, Jordan Syria, Kurdistan, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco, will be a space of militant actions against armed conflicts and injustice that women are the first ones facing it.
It will be a space dedicated to reporting and acting against poverty, violence, colonialism, illiteracy, unemployment and any kind of exploitation faced by women in the region without any distinction of ethnicity, religion, political, social or sexual orientations.
We are delighted by the success of this first meeting and this decisive step toward experiences’ exchange and the coordination of our militant fights to face the challenges that our region is struggling with and especially women.
Today, we are part of the WMW because we believe in its ethics and values and because our opposition is categorical to any kind of discrimination based on gender, to any kind of patriarchal or imperial domination source of women’s impoverishment and the exploitation of their insecurity.
Based on the WMW ethics, we, women of the North Africa and Middle East region’s WMW, are deploring the tragic fate of martyrs, men and women, that has been thrown in the Mediterranean Sea by the boats of the death in front of the cold look of the imperialist powers, the inertness of retrograde regimes, and the criminal appetite of human and contraband’s baron trafficking.
We join our voices to all the voices of democratic strength of the world that support and call for the freedom and emancipation of women. We express our refusal and condemnation of any project, regardless of its foundation and justification, that aims to control women’s body and their divest.
Based on the WMW ethics, we, women of the North Africa and Middle East region’s WMW are condemning any kind of marginalization and discrimination that women are facing and we require their right to participate in the decision making and the political determination as peace and stabilisation’s actress.
We, women of the North Africa and Middle East region’s WMW, express our solidarity to all the women victim of exploitation and discrimination and we offer them our unconditional support in their walk toward freedom, equality, dignity, social justice and peace.
We, women of the North Africa and Middle East region’s WMW, call on all the vivid forces and all the progressives in the world to face the Isis, Zionist, imperialist war machine and to oppose the development programs imposed by the International Monetary Fund that constitute nowadays a new form of slavery.
We condemn the border closing to women running away from the war’s atrocity in their territories and renew our support to all women victim of armed conflict in the region and value their struggle to establish peace, obtain their rights and preserve their dignity by the establishment of social justice and a durable peace, especially Palestinian women insisting on their right of a sovereign state.
Based on the WMW ethics, we, women of the North Africa and Middle East region’s WMW renew our engagement in the struggle for a better world free of wars, imperialism, and colonialism, a world without violence, discrimination and exploitation.
We are determined to continue our march for a fair and equitable repartition of the lands and wealth, for a world in constant peace, and sowing hope.
